Helping you regain your health…Naturally! Acupuncture is the most well known therapy in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine sterile needles into specific points of the body. Along with relief of a condition, most people experience relaxation, increased vitality, or a sense of well-being from the acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture is a gentle procedure. Acupuncture needles may not be felt at all on insertion or there might be a mild sensation followed by tingling, heaviness or warmth around the needle. There is a saying in Chinese Medicine: “When there is obstruction, there is pain. When there is no obstruction, there is no pain.”

What is Acupuncture?
Medical acupuncture respects the modern understanding of neuromuscular anatomy and pain physiology. At the same time, it includes the traditional Chinese roots of a subtle circulation network of channels, or meridians, which transports the flow of body energy known as Qi. The word Qi sounds like chee. The meridian system consists of approximately 400 points and 20 meridians. These 20 meridians connect acupuncture points together in order to improve the flow of energy and stimulate tissue regeneration. Therapeutic insertion of solid, extremely thin, one-time use disposable needles in various combinations and patterns of points follows traditional principles. Needling in this manner encourages the flow of Qi along with recruiting neuroanatomical segments or localized channels of a particular condition or injury. Needle insertion is most often painless with a slight feeling of fullness around the area the needle occupies.
How does Acupuncture work?
Acupuncture works by removing obstructions in the flow of energy within the body. Many people live with conditions because they believe there is nothing more that can be done for them. Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine can succeed in alleviating many conditions. Acupuncture allows for the release of certain hormones like endorphins and cortisol to help reduce the effects of inflammation and decrease pain. A few conditions such as back pain, neck and shoulder pain, headaches of all kinds, sprains, strains, sports injuries, chronic repetitive strains such as elbow and wrist conditions, and arthritic problems respond tremendously to medical acupuncture treatment. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the benefits of medical acupuncture for many common conditions such as:
